Strategy Case Studies

The following case studies confirm that Strategy is "proven in the BCM marketplace" with a comprehensive existing client base.

National Westminster Bank

The Bank has a number of sites using Strategy for business continuity planning. Initially a single site was used to develop a plan structure, which was then rolled out as a template for all other sites to use. The result has been that all site plans are consistent, in the same format and easy to control centrally.

Statement provided by Lending Operations - Natwest Group:

"As a Department within the NatWest Group we have used Strategy Business Continuity software successfully over the last 2 years. We have found the software to be user friendly and of considerable assistance in planning our operations".

CORGI

The Council of Registered Gas Installers, without any initial training or any consultancy services purchased Strategy to develop their business continuity plan. Strategy had demonstrated to them that with its proven methodology, comprehensive Help and software tools the main prerequisite was that the user had general business knowledge and PC literacy in Microsoft products.

The services of an accountancy student on a year out from university with the prerequisite skills was utilised to drive the project forward. At the appropriate stage a days advanced training was provided to, finalise the plans and train a permanent member of staff prior to them taking over the project.

Observations during the training session showed that the student had quickly gained a good understanding of the software program and methodology, which had enabled him to develop a working business continuity plan.

Statement provided by CORGI:

"CORGI found the package very simple to use. We were pleased with the facilities the package provided and found that with regular updates and maintenance it remains accurate and up-to-date. It certainly fulfilled our requirements."

Perseus Support Services

Perseus purchased a Strategy “SME package” to give the company a fast track into Business Continuity Management. The, time and cost effective package, included the Business Continuity Planner software and 4x consultancy days.

A project team from the managers of the company was created. Questionnaires, provided with Strategy, were sent out to the team to gather the necessary key information for a Risk & Impact Assessment and for the Business Continuity Plan.

Two brainstorming sessions were held with the management team to analyse the collated information, develop strategies to mitigate the killer risks identified, formulate a plan structure and develop team plans with the necessary tasks to plan for business continuity. The remaining time was then utilised to input the data into the software, train the plan administrators in the use of the product and its methodology, and to produce a first draft of the plan.

The package has quickly put the company in the position of having a plan, which using the tools provided with the software can be further developed and maintained by the project team.

Statement provided by Managing Director of Perseus Support Services:

"Perseus Support Services has always taken its Business Continuity and Disaster Recovery planning exceptionally seriously. Strategy Planning Associates have provided us with a software tool to enable us to ensure our Business Continuity plans are regularly updated and current. The consultancy provided by them has been of a very high standard and has resulted in this project being both effective and enjoyable. We would not hesitate in recommending Strategy Planning Associates to any other SME"

Ministry of Defence

A number of projects have been completed for the Ministry of Defence, which include the Fleet Air Arm, Navy, Army and Joint Head Quarters. Currently there are 16x plans in place, which have been developed using Strategy software. The plans cover bases and head quarters in both the UK and Europe. In most cases an overall template plan structure was created for a pilot site using Strategy Planning Associates support services, then the template was, following a training program for the users, rolled out to the other sites.

Clifford Chance

In common with a number of major Law Firms based in the City of London, as a leading Partnership with global interests across the Far East, America and mainland Europe they were concerned that business continuity plans (BCP's) had been traditionally restricted to the simple recovery of information technology functions.

After a number of months of business and risk analysis, a team of senior consultants from 4Sight Associates Ltd compiled a comprehensive Continuity Strategy Report which recommended an approach to the development of integrated recovery plans for all Practices and infrastructure support Departments e.g. Facilities, Partnership Finance, Human Resources, Information Technology and Media Liaison.

Included in the Continuity Strategy, were parameters for the acquisition of a BCP productivity tool, which would support an automated plan development process. The Partnership agreed that the product should;

  • be proven in the BCP marketplace with a comprehensive existing client base
  • provide interfaces with existing document management systems e.g. Windows, Word etc
  • be user friendly whilst providing adequate security controls
  • demonstrate latest 32bit technology with relational database functionality
  • prove cost effective
  • provide an easy means of BCP maintenance and upgrade

Strategy more than fulfilled these success criteria and has been successfully used to develop at least 30 comprehensive recovery plans which are integrated into a Partnership wide portfolio covering widely ranging emergency scenarios.    Now in the BCP maintenance phase, Strategy is proving fundamental in applying and tracking changes to recovery plans in a Partnership employing in excess of 2000 staff, 100's of suppliers, a dynamic Information Technology function and rapidly increasing changes to office locations.
